Eight New York medical debt protections drive historic declines in harmful collection practices
Together with partners, we supported eight laws banning hospital liens and wage garnishment between 2021-2025 — driving a 99.8% drop in debt lawsuits, a 78% reduction in medical debt in collections, and removing $241–$337M from credit reports.
Caregiving and aging supports strengthened for millions nationwide
We strengthened HCBS in 10 states, stabilizing support for 14.5M caregivers and families; improved care for 12.8M dually eligible people; and advanced an administration-adopted unified Medicare-Medicaid card to simplify access.
125 community-based organizations mobilized across 13 states for multilingual vaccine safety
We partnered with 15 CBOs on multilingual vaccine-safety research and supported 125 CBOs over four years — enabling 190,000+ vaccinations, training 131,000 trusted messengers, and averting an estimated $1.9–$2.48B in health system costs.

Health care markets are changing rapidly through consolidation, closures, and service reductions — often with little warning to the communities most affected. Community Health Market Watch identifies emerging risks early and equips communities with the data, strategy, and leverage needed to influence decisions before access is lost and local economies are destabilized.
State & Federal Agenda for Durable Health Care Reform
Making coverage work in practice, not just on paper.
Coverage gaps, denials, delays, and administrative barriers continue to block access to care — even for people who are insured. This priority aligns state, federal, and community actors to stabilize coverage, reduce implementation failures, and strengthen financial protections so care works when and where people need it.
Caregiving and Aging
Strengthening access and affordability as demand accelerates.
As the population ages, caregivers and families face fragmented systems, rising costs, and limited access to long-term services and supports. Community Catalyst advances policies and financing models that expand access to care, reduce financial strain on caregivers, and embed caregiver leadership into aging and Medicaid systems.
Health Justice Intelligence
Turning insight into execution across states.
Too often, decisions about health systems are made without timely data or community insight. Health Justice Intelligence integrates lived experience, data, and organizing power to surface access gaps, affordability failures, and accountability breakdowns — informing decisions early enough to shape outcomes, guide investment, and measure impact at scale.
